30 / 3 / 10 Clockwork Noise @ Semi-Final of the King Kong Club
Clockwork Noise play the Semi-Final of Dublin’s King Kong Club at The Village, Wexford Street this Thursday, 1 April.
We’ll be competing against five other bands for a festival slot and a place in the grand final. The overall prize is nine days of studio time with producer Boz Boorer, Morrisey’s former Musical Director, in Portugal.
The competition is won or lost by the clap-o-meter, which measures the noise of the crowd!
The King Kong Club is a truly excellent night of music with six bands each playing their best three songs!
So start off your Easter weekend this Thursday (1 April) at The Village. It’s free in and beer is only 3 Euro. Doors at 8.30pm!
Hope we’ll see you there!

27 / 3 / 10 Acoustic Treats
As promised on Facebook and the like, here are some mp3s from Rob & Blathnaid’s recent acoustic performance in the Abbey Hotel. The recording quality isn’t 100%, so these are more ‘curios’ than anything else. One song in particular, ‘When We’re Relaxed’, hasn’t yet been recorded, so this is it’s grand debut in mp3 format. Look out for the full band version on our upcoming recording!
Now back to practice-land, we return to the King Kong Club on thursday…

17 / 3 / 10 King Kong Craziness
Monday night saw Clockwork Noise competing in Ireland’s favourite Musical Gameshow: The King Kong Club at The Village. Spurred on by the incredible atmosphere of the KKC, we had a great gig; and thanks to the amazing audience we were voted (well, screamed, chanted, clapped and stamped) the winners on the night.
This means we’ll be performing at the KKC semi-final on 1 April at the same venue, and we promise to do justice to all our supporters by playing the best three songs of our lives!
There’s lots at stake- the ultimate prize being the huge opportunity of recording with Morrissey’s musical director Boz Boorer in Portugal- so come on down on the 1 April if you can!
Entry is free and there’ll be cheap beer there, too.
This week’s KKC performance will be broadcast on RTE 2XM (Sunday at 10PM), so we’ll do our best to put our segment here. In the meantime, check out this video of one of the tracks we performed on the night, ‘Choose Your Words’:

12 / 3 / 10 Gig Roundup
After a bit of time hiding out to write (amongst other things…), March sees Clockwork Noise returning to live duties.
The first of several upcoming shows will be on Monday the 15th, as we try our hand at Dublin’s premier battle of the bands- The King Kong Club. We’ll need your help to conquer their hi-tech Clap-o-meter, so come along if you can. It takes place in the Village, Wexford Street- kicking off at 8.30, and running til late. Admission is free, and pints are a rather respectable €4.
Next we’ll be helping out a friend of the band by performing at a fundraiser for Serve in the Abbey Hotel on Saturday March 20th. Also their on the night will be Sounds of System Breakdown, The Cold 100, Blue Fever, and fellow Bray-ites, Peakin’ Trippers. Tickets are €10, with it all going to a good cause.
Last but far from least, we’ll be celebrating the birthday of the super-amazing Dublin promoter Clockwork Apple, by playing a double headliner with Verona Riots upstairs in Whelans.
12 / 3 / 10 And That’s A Wrap…
As any of our facebook/twitter friends will know by now, we spent last tuesday night in the Pigeon House in Ringsend freezing our asses off and shooting our new music video.
The shoot went really well, thanks largely to the huge effort put in by Director, Conor Ryan and his fantastic crew. So a big thanks to them, and all the extras who volunteered their time, and those who came along to help out & take photos.
Lots of said photos can now be viewed online via facebook & flickr- they’ll give you a hint of what’s to be expected when the video is ready to hit the internet in about a month’s time. it’ll make a welcome change from the song’s current youtube representation.
Now that we’ve completed our sojourn in front of the cameras, it’s back to writing for Clockwork Noise. With the studio trip for our next single coming up soon, there’s no time for slacking off…
